Bob's approach to me was with kindness that gave comfort. He was inclusive, which meant I (as a nonscholar in the midst of scholars) wasn’t left out. He wanted to know what I thought. This stimulated me to think and learn. Kind, inclusive, interested, and interesting: a formula for a teacher and a friend. I miss him!
